Foreign Famous

Privacy Policy

Last updated 20 October 2026

Foreign Famous manages social media accounts on behalf of client organisations. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and what we do not do with it.

Who we are

Foreign Famous ("we", "us"). Contact: dave@foreignfamous.com.

What this website is

This site is a private reporting dashboard. Clients sign in to see the performance of the social media accounts we manage for them. It is not a public service and there is no public sign-up.

Information we handle

  • Account access. The username and password we issue to a client so they can sign in here. Passwords are stored only as a cryptographic hash and cannot be read back by us or anyone else.
  • Session cookie. One cookie that keeps you signed in while you use the dashboard. It holds no personal information and is deleted when you sign out or your session expires. We use no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
  • Social account performance data. Metrics for accounts we manage on a client's behalf — follower counts, views, likes, comments, shares, and links to published posts. This is obtained through each platform's official interfaces, with the account owner's authorisation.
  • Correspondence. If you email us, we keep that email.

YouTube API Services

This application uses YouTube API Services. By using it in connection with a YouTube channel, you are agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.

Google's own handling of any data it receives is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

What we access through YouTube. With the channel owner's authorisation we upload videos on their behalf, set titles, descriptions, thumbnails and publication times, read the channel's own performance statistics, and read and reply to comments on that channel's videos. We request no broader access than that, and we access no channel we have not been authorised for.

Revoking our access. The channel owner can withdraw our access at any time, without contacting us, at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. Access ends immediately and we retain no ability to act on the channel afterwards.

Deleting YouTube data we hold. Authorisation tokens are deleted as soon as access is revoked or an engagement ends. Performance figures we have stored for reporting are deleted on request — write to dave@foreignfamous.com and we will delete them within 30 days and confirm when it is done. Stored YouTube data is in any case refreshed rather than accumulated, and is never used for any purpose other than reporting to the channel's owner.

We do not sell YouTube data, use it for advertising, combine it with data from other sources to build profiles, or use it to train machine learning models.

Comments and messages on Facebook and Instagram

For a client who asks us to manage their community, and with the account owner's authorisation, we read the comments left on that client's own Facebook Page and Instagram posts, and the messages people send to that Page or Instagram account. We use them only to answer, moderate and report on that client's account: replying to comments, hiding or deleting comments that break the client's rules, answering messages, and sending one private message to someone who commented asking for it (for example a link they requested).

When someone has messaged the account, we may check whether they follow it, so a reply that is meant for followers goes only to followers. We do not message anyone who has not first commented on or written to the account, and we follow each platform's own limits on when a reply may be sent.

To give the client a short summary of what people are saying, the text of recent comments is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to be summarised. The provider processes it only to return that summary and does not use it to train its models. We keep comments and messages only as long as the engagement lasts, and delete them on request or when it ends.

How we get access to a client's accounts

Only with the account owner's explicit permission, granted through the platform's own authorisation process. We do not ask for, receive, or store account passwords. The permission granted is limited to what the owner approved, and the owner can withdraw it at any time from their platform settings, without involving us.

What we use it for

Solely to run and report on the accounts we have been engaged to manage: publishing approved content, monitoring performance, and producing the reporting you see on this site.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent, or trade any data.
  • We do not use client data to train machine learning models, or share it with anyone for that purpose.
  • We do not use platform data for advertising or profiling.
  • We do not combine one client's data with another's.
  • We do not access anything beyond the accounts we have been authorised for.

Who else can see it

Our own staff working on that client's account, and the service providers that run our infrastructure — our web host, and Google, whose spreadsheet service we use to maintain performance records. Those providers process data on our instructions. We disclose information otherwise only where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Performance data is kept for the duration of the engagement and for up to 12 months afterwards, so that historical reporting remains available. Account logins are deleted when an engagement ends. A client may ask us to delete their data sooner and we will do so.

Your rights

You may ask us what data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to dave@foreignfamous.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Security

This site is served over an encrypted connection. Dashboard data is reachable only by a signed-in client and is not published at any public address. Access credentials for client platforms are held on access-controlled systems.

Children

This is a business service and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will tell affected clients directly. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
